ADE Classroom

6 hours of classroom instruction with permit test, completed in one day (8:00am - 2:00pm). Permit certificate issued that day. Does not include drive lessons — add Behind the Wheel separately if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drivers 18-24 who have never held a Texas driver's license are required by the state to complete an approved adult driver education course.

It's a 6-hour course, which you can complete in one day or spread across multiple sessions. Available in-person and online.

Drivers 25 and older don't need to take the course. You can go directly to DPS for your written test and road test.

The course prepares you for the DPS permit test. Most students pass on their first attempt.
